The Grampian Model Railroaders are inviting the community to step into a world of miniature locomotives and detailed layouts
at their Model Railway Show in Stawell this weekend.

The two-day exhibition will see the Stawell Railway Goods Shed filled with operating layouts, railway memorabilia and specialist traders, offering something for seasoned rail enthusiasts and families alike.

“There’ll be a bit of everything there,” event organiser and club secretary Stuart Cray said.

“Several layouts will be operating across the weekend, along with traders and memorabilia, so it gives people a chance to come along and see what the club’s about.”

While the show is one of the highlights on the club’s calendar, it also reflects a group that has been part of the Stawell community since the late 1990s. Founded by a small group of local enthusiasts, the Grampian Model Railroaders continue to meet regularly at the Goods Shed, sharing skills and building layouts across a range of scales and eras.

Founding member Colin Konig said the club remained welcoming to anyone with an interest in trains, regardless of experience.

“We meet every Thursday night at the Goods Shed,” Mr Konig said.

“Anyone who’s interested is welcome to come along, have a look and see what it’s about.”

The Stawell Model Railway Show will be held at the Stawell Railway Goods Shed, 15 Wakeham Street, on Saturday (February 21) from 10am to 5pm and Sunday (February 22) from 10am to 4pm. Entry is $5 for adults, with children under 16 free, and EFTPOS is available.
